Mrs N wanted to have a skite

In the holidays I was lucky enough to go to the island of Vavau'u north of Tonga and I got to swim with humpback whales. I will try and attach a photo onto this for you all to see because I am so proud and still so excited about my experience, especially when I got to touch a humpback baby's flipper. See below for the photo opportunity viewing...

Kia ora Room 8, This website has some challenges for you. Pick which one you need to work on the most: basic facts, algebra and then look at the other tasks. Don't delay look how fast the first week has gone.

Also think about this number pattern. (place value knowledge is important when understanding this)
Challenge 1 Challenge 2
10x8= 10x0.1=
100x8= 100x0.1=
1000x8= 1000x0.1=
10000x8= 10000x0.1=
Have fun learning. Ask some questions when you post a comment

spring has arrived

SPRING'S HERE!!!!!!!!
Tuis infest the blossom trees today sucking all the nector from these glorious flowers.
I spotted around 12 Tuis perched in a crowd. Taking photos were a nightmare as they clambered away out of view as soon as I pressed the silver button down.
The sun peers out of the clouds regurally but hides too.
Nearly able to swim but we've got to be patient.

Pekarau primary school teachers.

eyThis morning we had the priviledge of having the some of Pekarau primary school teachers to come and check out all our writing skills and how we learn to write amazing stories. The work room 8 did today was phenominal better than we'd ever done before. We were impecible! They were even coming up with better words than the teacher!! They were like hawks stalking their prey. Well done team says Mrs N,

Sunday Market and our week happenings

Hi, the Pirongia Sunday market was stunning. The candles were a hit and they were all sold out in an hour! The bean bags were second on the top selling charts and all the rest were not far behind. But if your can make it there you can make it anywhere. My opinion on our items is to maybe make them with different materials that you havent used before or the two bean bag groups could swap materials for different designs. Some groups need to polish up their items a bit, give them something bigger, better!

About us

We are a group of Year 5 and 6 students and our teacher's name is Mrs Nasilasila. Her surname is Fijian because she is married to a native Fijian man.
Our school's name is Pirongia School because our school sits under a beautiful mountain called Pirongia.

The Movers and Shakers of Room 8

Check our Learning - We want to hear from you...
We are starting the Primary Enterprise Programme this term for the year.
Our whole class will be investigating worthy causes to give a percentage of our profit too. We will also be looking at selling some of our products at our local Pirongia Market. Our challenge is to make quality products that people really want to buy.
Do you know of any worthy causes? What organisation would you suggest we donate to?
